A devoted husband, father of four, and grandpa to one, Ephraim has spent his life on the ocean. After earning his Captain’s license in 2011, he left the corporate world to pursue his dream of working in AK. He quickly rose to lead captain at a neighboring lodge where he spent six seasons learning the chartering business and what he would do to make the experience better.

Known for his humor, storytelling, spirit, and love for the outdoors, Ephraim is dedicated to creating an unforgettable experience for guests. In the offseason he can be found taking his kids and grandkid hunting and fishing, traveling to the beach whenever he can, and preparing the Lodge for another great season.

Shane spent his entire fishing career exploring the waters around Yakobi Island, building over a decade of experience fishing the area. He earned a reputation for hard work, skill, and a deep commitment to putting guests on fish while making sure they had an unforgettable time on the water.

Shane passed away in January of 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind a strong and lasting legacy that continues to shape the spirit of Apex Lodge and Charters.

Outside of Alaska, Shane was an adventurer at heart. He spent his off-seasons traveling the world, often visiting places like New Zealand and Panama, and he enjoyed hunting big game in Colorado whenever he could. His love for the outdoors, his energy, and his sense of adventure continue to live on in the experiences he helped create.

Lee grew up on the Oregon Coast fishing big chinook salmon with his family, wanting to spend every potential minute he had out on the water. His first trip to Alaska happened at 11 years old with his dad catching salmon and a few year later caught his first halibut at 76 inches long! Needless to say, Lee has been hooked ever since.

During the offseason, Lee can be found with his family in Wyoming hunting, fishing, and being the best dad. He loves the adventure of Alaska and sharing the experiences with guests at Apex lodge. He has been fishing out of Pelican for 12 years and is a true pro at putting people on big numbers of salmon, huge halibut, and providing an amazing experience for every guest.

Hailing all the way from the Lone Star State, Morris has been providing an unforgettable dining experience since our first season. Morris started his culinary career at 16 years old and has since opened 13 restaurants of varying cuisines. His favorite though is good ol’ Texas BBQ!

In the offseason Morris enjoys hunting, fishing, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, and experimenting with cooking new dishes. His favorite part of working at the lodge is meeting guests from all over the world. Each meal with Morris is prepared using fresh, quality ingredients. His dedication to serving hearty, flavorful meals helps keeps our guests coming back year after year.

Originally starting with Apex Lodge as a deckhand, Trevor has since worked his way up to being a captain. He may be newer to the chartering game but he’s learned the ropes fast and carries himself like a well-seasoned pro.

Trevor resides in Wasilla, AK during the offseason with his girlfriend and two children. Like many of our Lodge staff, Trevor enjoys hunting big game, fishing, and spending time with his family. He is an adrenaline junkie at heart and is constantly on the lookout for new adventures.
